ARTISTS STATEMENT
Macrame is the art of decorative knotting using only your hands as tools.
September's Child was born in June of 2005 to macrame artist/owner ELENA SPRINGETT.
Art is not just created by the artist, but rather it's the creative energy that flows through very special people we call artists.
I have been chosen to work with brightly hued cord, transforming it into endless geometric patterns. This is macrame.
In creating I bring form and function together with artistry to breathe life into a simple length of cord.
One of the beauties of my art is that it can be both decorative, as in the jewelry I create, and functional, as in the multi-stranded hanging wine racks and the pottery holders.
Macrame is a soul healing art. The basics are simple to learn but with their endless permutations on knots, colors and applications, almost infinite in possibilities.
The only limit is my limitless imagination as I mix the elements of tension and release into the knotting and twisting of the macrame, fulfilling the intricate simplicity that is macrame.
My name is Elena Springett and I am a macrame artist.
